My story: As a self-taught abstract Watercolor Artist, I love color! I love starting with a color palette and zero plan, and then seeing where the paint takes me! When I started painting a few short years ago, I was very hard on myself and as a challenge to not give up (which I have done many times in my life!), I started outlining the "mistakes" in my paintings! To my surprise, once I stepped back and saw the finished product, I actually began to LOVE painting, and I was even proud of my work! I learned in real time that it was impossible to create a "perfect" painting no matter how hard I tried, so I stopped judging it until the outlining was done. Now when I paint, I outline every little thing the paint does, and the results are so cool! The outlines are a reminder to be nicer to myself! I cannot control the outcome, so I just trust that the paint will be roadmap to create and have fun. I am always surprised to see what emerges when I am consciously trying to be nicer to myself!
A MAIL CLUB WAS BORN:
With over 200 paintings under my belt, I had an idea: What if I could REVERSE my process and remove the color from my work, leaving just the outlines for others to color themselves? What if I could inspire others to be creative too? What if they didn't have to "create" anything, they could just follow the outlines and not judge themselves!? What if they could create something beautiful and share it with someone else? And just like
that, VOILA! MichMash COLORSTACHE was born!
